Hin Wong Bay is a reef dive on the east coast of Koh Tao, Thailand, known for its massive rock formations and consistently excellent visibility. The site sits within a protected bay and reaches a maximum depth of 14 metres, making it accessible to Open Water-certified divers and well suited to beginners.
The terrain is built from hard coral over a granite reef, with the same boulder and ridge topography that characterises Koh Tao's underwater landscape. Visibility is reliably good and settles best at low tide, which is the recommended time to dive the site.
The reef holds rays, cuttlefish, small reef fish, parrotfish, fusiliers, rabbitfish, unicornfish, and sea snakes, with blacktip reef sharks also present in the area. The site is a peaceful dive with no strong currents, and the reef itself is the main draw.
Hin Wong Bay is reached by boat, with the island's dive sites generally lying within a 20- to 45-minute ride from the pier. Currents are mild, the bay is protected, and the calm conditions make it a practical training site as well as a relaxed option for certified divers who want an unhurried reef dive on the quieter east side of the island.
