Simon's Reef lies a little off the north coast of Gili Meno in Indonesia. It is a series of seamounts, called takats, rising from about 35 metres, with eight major takats arranged roughly in a figure of eight. The reef rises into small canyons of very diverse and healthy coral. Average depth is around 25 metres, which suits nitrox divers, and the maximum is 40 metres. It is a site for advanced divers.
The coral variety is superb, with most types of stony coral and a good deal of soft coral and gorgonian fans. You have a good chance of finding a well-camouflaged pygmy seahorse in the gorgonian fans. There are numerous schools of fish around, especially when the current is strong, and sightings run from macro animals to pelagics.
