West End Wall sits at the southwestern tip of Roatan, Honduras, on "The Point" at the southern edge of West Bay, and is consistently ranked among the island's most dramatic dive sites. The site is accessed by boat, with divers dropping in at the top edge of the wall at 6 m (20 ft). From there the wall drops steeply to around 18–27 m (60–90 ft), with a shallow plateau at roughly 9 m (30 ft) marking the top of the reef. Throughout the dive, deep caverns are carved into the wall from the shallows down to its deepest sections. At 60 m (200 ft) — well beyond recreational limits — the Josie James wreck rests on the bottom and can occasionally be spotted on a day of exceptional visibility.
The predictable current running along the wall makes this a classic drift dive and feeds healthy soft corals as well as large schools of fish. Creole wrasse travel in long, continuous trains along the wall, big schools of jacks congregate regularly, and eagle rays pass through. In August, silversides gather in the crevices of the wall. The current is generally gentle and predictable, and visibility is typically very clear.
West End Wall is rated advanced, primarily because of the deep wall profile and the drift conditions. The site is a boat dive, and divers are carried along by the current for the duration. Water temperature ranges from 26–29°C (79–84°F) year-round, and the southwestern tip location provides a degree of exposure to open-ocean conditions.
