Southwest Pinnacle is an underwater seamount a 50 minute boat ride out to sea from Koh Tao, Thailand, with depths of 5 to 30 m (6 to 30 m on another account). It is verified as advanced with strong current, though one account says it suits all levels, and the deeper parts are explored by advanced divers.
Hard and soft corals blanket the pinnacles and draw a wide variety of reef fish. Because the site is so far offshore it attracts pelagics and schooling fish. Large schools of snappers, fusiliers and yellowtail barracuda are common, and hundreds of barracuda are possible. Giant groupers patrol the deeper parts.
Reef sharks may be seen, and divers who are lucky may see a whale shark pass by. Visibility is good.
