About this site
Aquario lies along the reef fringing Mahahual, a small coastal town on the Costa Maya in southern Quintana Roo, part of the Mesoamerican Reef system on the Yucatan Peninsula's Caribbean side. Dive operators in Mahahual run boat trips out to sites along this section of reef, just offshore from the town's coastline. The site tops out at around 14.6 metres over a reef bottom and is rated an intermediate dive. Divers here have reported jacks and amberjack, manta rays, moray eels, nurse sharks, and squid.
