About this site
Abu Dabour lies along Egypt's Red Sea coast, in the waters near Marsa Alam based on its coordinates. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 15 metres over a reef bottom and is considered a beginner dive. Divers have reported barracuda, eagle rays, grouper, hammerhead sharks, lionfish, manta rays, napoleon wrasse, octopus, pipefish, scorpionfish, stonefish, tuna, and even whale sharks passing through. The reef also includes a swim-through with an overhead section on its south side, so divers should be mindful of that passage along with venomous species such as lionfish, scorpionfish, stonefish, and dragonfish resting on the reef. Surface swell has also been noted at the site.
