Agincourt Reef

Agincourt Reef is a series of ribbon reefs on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, off Port Douglas in Far North Queensland. Sitting near the continental shelf, it is exposed to open ocean swell and generally offers great visibility, since it is less affected by runoff than reefs closer to shore. Diving here involves coral bommies over a reef bottom, with a maximum depth of around 20 metres, making it a beginner-friendly site. Clownfish, humphead (Napoleon) wrasse, and parrotfish are regularly encountered here, and divers have also reported barracuda, grouper, manta rays, and even whales passing along the reef. It is usually reached by day boat or liveaboard from Port Douglas, given its distance from the mainland.
