Orchid Island (Lanyu) sits off the southeastern coast of Taiwan in the Pacific, home to the Tao indigenous community and known for its volcanic coastline. Airport Outer Reef refers to a dive site along the reef fringing the island near its small airport, on the eastern side of the island facing open Pacific waters.
