About this site
Anemone Reef sits a few kilometers off Phuket's east coast, close to Shark Point in the Andaman Sea, and is a submerged pinnacle rising from the seabed toward the surface without breaking it. The site takes its name from the dense carpet of anemones covering its upper reaches, along with soft corals and encrusting sponges lower down. It's a popular stop on day boat trips out of Phuket, often paired with Shark Point or Koh Doc Mai, with depths ranging from around 5 metres near the top to a verified maximum of 30 metres at the base. Divers commonly report leopard sharks resting on the sand nearby and schools of reef fish around the pinnacle, and current can pick up depending on tide. The site is rated advanced overall.
