About this site
Angus Rock lies off the coast of County Down, Northern Ireland, marked by a small automatic lighthouse near the entrance to Strangford Lough where the lough meets the Irish Sea, a stretch known for strong tidal movement through the narrows. The dive site itself is a rocky bottom reaching a maximum depth of around 18 metres, but it is rated technical rather than a straightforward shallow dive. Divers have reported a strong easterly current here along with a very exposed setting, conditions that likely have more to do with the site's difficulty rating than the depth alone.
