Bait Reef

Bait Reef sits in the Whitsunday region of the Great Barrier Reef off the Queensland coast, one of the outer reefs reached by boat from the Whitsunday Islands. It is known for its coral bommies, swim-throughs, and clear water typical of the outer reef sites in this part of the Coral Sea, with a reef bottom throughout and conditions generally rated intermediate. Divers have reported angelfish, batfish, damselfish, fusiliers, parrotfish, and trevally moving over the coral formations here. Depths across the reef vary between shallow coral gardens and deeper drop-offs, and divers commonly encounter turtles and soft corals typical of the outer Whitsunday reefs as well.
