Bait Reef Banjores Lagoon

Bait Reef Banjores Lagoon sits in the Whitsunday region of the Great Barrier Reef, off the Queensland coast north of Airlie Beach, within reach of boats operating out of the Townsville area. It is one of the outer reef sites protected within the Marine Park, formed of coral bommies and lagoon areas typical of this part of the reef system. Divers here have reported a range of invertebrate life on the reef and lagoon floor, including dotted wrasse, Indian sea stars, spotted linckia, Watson's sea stars, thousand-pores sea stars, and the occasional long-spined crown-of-thorns, along with a sea star known locally as Old Glory.
