About this site
Baixa Dos Cedros lies off the coast of Faial in the Azores archipelago, in the volcanic mid-Atlantic waters of Portugal. Faial's shoreline is composed of basaltic rock formations that drop into deep Atlantic water, and this site is typically reached by a short boat trip from Horta or nearby coastal villages. It is rated an advanced dive reaching a maximum depth of around 40 metres, and divers have reported hammerhead sharks in the area.
