Barbones

Barbones lies off the coast of Cancun on the Yucatan Peninsula, in the Caribbean waters of Quintana Roo, though the site itself is a cave rather than a reef dive. It sits at a shallow maximum depth of around 6.5 metres, with a cave bottom and reportedly great visibility, and is rated an intermediate dive due to its overhead environment. Divers have reported hazards including collapse risk and tunnel closures, along with sections with no mount restrictions, so it demands attention to the cave setting despite the modest depth. Bull sharks and moray eels have also been reported at the site.
