Barracuda Point

Barracuda Point is one of the well known dive sites at Sipadan, off the coast of Sabah in Malaysian Borneo. It takes its name from the large schools of chevron barracuda that gather here, sometimes forming a dense swirling column just off the wall, and divers also commonly see grey reef sharks, jacks, and green and hawksbill turtles along the drop-off. The site is a wall dive with a strong current running along it, which is what pulls in the schooling fish and also makes drift diving the standard approach here. Verified data puts the maximum depth at 40 metres, consistent with the drop-off dropping well past recreational limits, and the current and depth mean it is generally treated as a dive for those with some experience.
