About this site
Barracuda Point lies off Ha Island (Koh Ha) in the Similan Islands chain, part of Mu Ko Similan National Park off the Andaman coast of Phang Nga province in southern Thailand. The islands sit well offshore and are typically reached by liveaboard or day boat from Khao Lak or Phuket, with the diving season generally limited to the months when the park is open to visitors. The site is a wall dive to around 40 metres, rated intermediate, with strong current and an exposed wall as noted hazards. Barracuda are a reliable sighting here, giving the site its name, and divers have also reported batfish, bumphead parrotfish, frogfish, ghost pipefish, grouper, snapper, and trevally along the wall. Larger and rarer encounters including hammerhead sharks, leopard sharks, manta rays, and whale sharks have also been reported by divers at this site, though the strong current is the main factor to plan around.
