Barracuda Point

Barracuda Point is a well known dive site off Sangalaki, part of the Derawan archipelago in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, close to the Kakaban and Maratua island group. It sits on a sloping reef edge in an area known for strong currents that sweep past the point, and divers often hold in the flow near the drop off to watch schooling barracuda and other pelagics. Manta rays are also commonly reported around this part of Sangalaki. The reef itself is shallow near the top, but the site is rated as a technical dive with a maximum depth of around 250 metres where the wall falls away into open water. Most diving happens well above that on the upper reef and drop off, done as a drift with careful attention to entry and exit timing given the current.
