About this site

Batu Meling lies along the coast of Nusa Penida, the island southeast of Bali across the Badung Strait, taking its name from a rock formation offshore that marks the reef point. It is a reef dive to around 30 metres, rated advanced due to strong current and great visibility. Divers regularly encounter barracuda, eagle rays, fusilier, manta rays, mola mola, napoleon wrasse, nudibranchs, sea turtles, and tuna, with reports of hammerhead sharks, reef sharks, grouper, sweetlips, trevally, pygmy seahorses, and other reef fish and macro life as well. Currents can be strong and unpredictable, with downward surges reported, and some sources note the site is best dived only in calm conditions.
