About this site
Black Rock lies along the Gulf of Aqaba coastline near Aqaba, Jordan, on the northern tip of the Red Sea, where fringing reefs sit close to shore and are easily reached from town by car or a short boat ride. The site is a reef dive rated beginner, reaching a maximum depth of around 30 metres. Seahorses and snapper are common on the reef, and divers have also reported lionfish, Napoleon wrasse, nudibranchs, ornate ghost pipefish, parrotfish, pufferfish, scorpionfish, sea turtles, triggerfish, and wrasse here. Current and fire coral have also been noted as hazards worth keeping in mind.
