Cedar Pride Wreck

The Cedar Pride was a Lebanese cargo ship that caught fire and was later scuttled off Aqaba in 1985 to create an artificial reef, deliberately sunk by the Jordanian Royal Ecological Diving Society. It lies on its side in the Gulf of Aqaba a short boat ride from shore, with the hull reaching a maximum depth of around 25 metres and shallower sections toward the mast structures. The wreck is around 75 metres long and heavily encrusted with soft corals, and the dive is rated advanced, with visibility generally excellent. Barracuda and lionfish are a regular sight around the structure, and divers have also reported batfish, eagle rays, grouper, octopus, parrotfish, pipefish, seahorses, and nudibranchs on and around the hull. It remains one of the more popular dives out of Aqaba.
