Blue Hole & Azure Window

The Blue Hole sits at Dwejra on the west coast of Gozo, Malta, right beside where the Azure Window limestone arch once stood before it collapsed into the sea in 2017. The site is a circular inland pool connected to the open Mediterranean by a natural tunnel, dropping through the tunnel to open water with a maximum depth around 20 metres, and it's generally rated a beginner dive. Divers commonly encounter grouper, bream, and other Mediterranean reef fish along the rock formations and swim-throughs in the area. Entry is usually from the rocks at Dwejra, and the tunnel passage is straightforward, making it accessible to a broad range of experience levels. Some divers have flagged concerns about depth and nitrogen narcosis at this site, though these hazards aren't widely reported and the site is otherwise considered approachable for newer divers exploring the wall and chimneys nearby.
