About this site
Caishen Jiao (财神礁), the Yuyan Rocks, is an offshore reef about 18 nautical miles from Dalian's Laohutan fishing harbour, an hour and a half by boat. Underwater it is a wall of large rock to about 33 m, then mud and sand, with 15 m+ visibility and a sharp thermocline: 15–22 °C above 15 m in summer, 5–10 °C below. Yellow croaker, rockfish, black porgy and amberjack, plus sea cucumber, abalone and scallops; Advanced level, dived 5–35 m.
