About this site
Calanggaman Island is a small sandbar islet in the Camotes Sea, situated between Leyte and Cebu in the central Philippines and administratively part of Palompon, Leyte. It is best known as a day-trip destination reached by boat from the Palompon coast, with the island itself a narrow strip of white sand surrounded by open water on both sides. The dive site here is a wall reaching a maximum depth of around 32 metres, rated a beginner dive with good visibility. Nudibranchs are a regular find along the wall, and divers have also reported anthias, barracuda, frogfish, fusilier, garden eels, jacks and amberjack, moray eels, pipefish, pygmy seahorses, sea turtles, snapper, triggerfish, and tuna in the area.
