About this site
Chitales lies along the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo near Cancun, on the Yucatan Peninsula, part of the limestone shelf and reef formations typical of the Mesoamerican Reef system that runs along the Yucatan's eastern shore. It is a shallow reef dive with a maximum depth of about 8.3 metres, rated for beginners, with great visibility over the reef bottom. Eagle rays are regularly seen here, and divers have also reported barracuda and nurse sharks on the site.
