Constellation

The Constellation is a wooden four-masted schooner that sank in 1943 off the north shore of Bermuda near Sandys, while carrying a mixed cargo that reportedly included cement, glassware, and drug vials, some of which still litter the wreck site today. It lies in the same general area as the wreck of the Montana, with a maximum depth of about 18.3 metres over a wreck bottom, and is rated an intermediate dive. The site is credited in part with inspiring Peter Benchley's novel The Deep, and divers visit it as much for the scattered cargo remnants as for the timbers of the hull itself. Octopus, parrotfish, and wrasse have been spotted around the wreck, adding to the draw of the scattered cargo and hull remains.
