About this site
Coral Garden lies off Njao Island, a small island on the western side of Pemba, part of Tanzania's Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean. Njao Island sits within the Njao Gap area, a stretch of the Pemba Channel known for its steep drop-offs and reef systems reached by boat from operators based around Pemba. This particular site sits over a reef bottom with a maximum depth of around 14 metres and is considered a beginner dive. Divers have reported crocodilefish, leaf scorpionfish, lionfish, mantis shrimp, moray eels, scorpionfish, crown squirrelfish, and black longspine urchins tucked among the coral here.
