About this site
The Corsair sits off the south shore of Oahu, near the entrance to Pearl Harbor, and takes its name from the F4U Corsair fighter plane resting on the sandy bottom there, largely intact and now grown over with encrusting marine life. It lies at a maximum depth of about 32.6 metres and is rated an intermediate dive, reached by boat from Honolulu-area harbors. Garden eels are a regular sight around the wreck, and divers have also reported eagle rays, frogfish, octopus, pufferfish, and moray eels in the area. The site carries some hazards worth noting, including barnacles and sharp metal on the airframe, along with the depth itself and the eels that shelter around the wreckage.
