About this site
Spitting Caves is one of the premier drift dives on Oahu, along Portlock Wall, with a big sea cave. It runs from 55 to 70 feet (15 to 23 metres) and calls for Open Water certification.
It is a good place for a chance encounter with the endangered Hawaiian monk seal, and white-tip reef sharks are seen with regularity. Eagle rays, large eels, frogfish and turtles are all common sightings, and in winter you can hear whale song echoing off the walls.
Conditions often decide whether the dive is possible, because of the exposed location.
