About this site

Crystal Bay sits off Nusa Penida, the island southeast of Bali across the strait, and is one of the region's known access points for cold upwellings from deeper Indian Ocean water. The reef here reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated an intermediate dive, with medium current and generally good visibility. Divers have reported bannerfish, barracuda, trevally, and mola mola, and this stretch of the strait is also known among divers for occasional sightings of thresher sharks and even whale sharks. Thermoclines and tricky currents have been noted here as well, so conditions can shift through a dive given the open water Crystal Bay faces.
