About this site
Daimaru Iwa (大丸岩) is a boat-dived pinnacle around Mageshima off Tanegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture, about 35 minutes by boat, with a maximum depth of 5 m. It has the densest branching coral in the Mageshima area, with no current and consistently stable visibility. Sergeant majors and blue damselfish school around the coral, and the shallow depth calls for careful buoyancy to avoid breaking the branches. Suitable from beginner level.
