About this site
Deace's Rock off Clare Island offers dramatic underwater terrain with steep walls, crevices, and overhangs. Strong Atlantic currents bring nutrient-rich waters, attracting large schools of pollock, ling, and occasional basking sharks. The rocky outcrops host colorful sponges, anemones, and crustaceans. Visibility varies but often exceeds 15 meters. Suitable for experienced divers due to currents and depth. The site provides thrilling drift dives along the rock face, with surprises like conger eels hiding in cracks. Cold water year-round, best dived in summer.
