About this site
Greek Freighter lies off Achill Island in County Mayo, on Ireland's Atlantic coast in the province of Connacht. Achill is connected to the mainland by a bridge at Achill Sound, and the dive sites around its headlands and bays are exposed to open Atlantic conditions, generally reached by boat from the island's small harbours. Divers here have reported small-spotted catshark, spotted skate, and thornback skate around the site, all species typical of the rocky and sandy ground found along this stretch of coast.
