Dos Ojos

Dos Ojos is a cenote system in the jungle near Tulum, on the Yucatan Peninsula in Quintana Roo, part of one of the largest underwater cave networks in the world. It takes its name from two adjacent sinkholes connected by a cavern passage, both accessed by ladder or steps down into clear freshwater. Divers commonly experience it in two ways: as an open cavern tour for recreational divers with permitted natural light zones, and as a full cave dive for those with cave certification exploring the deeper passages and halocline layers. The cavern tour runs to a maximum depth of around 9 metres over a cave floor and is rated a beginner dive, while cave lines extend much further into darkness for trained cave divers. The site is known for striking limestone formations, stalactites, and the visual effect of light beams entering through the openings. Recreational cavern tours are accessible to most certified divers, while penetration beyond the cavern zone requires specific cave diving training due to the overhead environment.
