About this site
Dreamgate Cenote lies inland from the Riviera Maya coast in Quintana Roo, part of the extensive cenote system that runs through the Yucatan Peninsula's limestone bedrock, reached by a short drive from the main coastal towns into the jungle interior. It is a cave dive to a maximum depth of around 7 metres, rated advanced despite the shallow profile, and visibility is generally great. The dive is a true overhead environment over a cave bottom, with fragile formations, tight passages, and silt among the confirmed hazards, and divers have also noted low ceilings, narrow angled intersections, delicate dripstone and soda straw formations, and dim light conditions inside. Divers have reported sea turtles at the site as well.
