About this site
The Dunraven is a British steam and sail cargo ship that sank in 1876 after striking the reef at Beacon Rock in the Strait of Gubal, in the Sinai region near Sharm El Sheikh. The wreck lies upside down on a sandy slope, broken in the stern section, with a length of roughly 80 metres, and divers can swim through the hull's interior past boilers and engine machinery amid coral growth. Verified depth on the site reaches around 25 metres, and it is rated an advanced dive given the penetration routes and the buoyancy control needed inside the hull. Nudibranchs are a confirmed presence on the wreck, and divers have also reported barracuda, batfish, glassfish, grouper, mackerel, moray eels, scorpionfish, and stonefish, with stonefish also noted as a hazard to watch for on the bottom.
