Dunraven Shipwreck

The Dunraven is a British steam and sail cargo ship that sank in 1876 while en route from Bombay to Newport, running aground on the reef at Sha'ab Mahmoud in the Strait of Gubal in the South Sinai region of Egypt's Red Sea. The wreck lies upside down, broken in the stern section, on a sandy bottom, and its hull has become encrusted with coral growth over time. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 58 metres and is rated a technical dive, with divers able to swim through parts of the hull's interior. It is typically reached by boat from operators along the Sinai coast around Sharm el-Sheikh or the Hurghada area.
