About this site

El Bajo lies off Playa del Carmen on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, in Quintana Roo, reached by short boat trips from the town's marina. It is a seamount dive with a maximum depth of around 18 metres, generally rated intermediate. Hammerhead sharks are a regular presence here, and divers have also reported barracuda, eagle rays, grouper, manta rays, mobula rays, moray eels, nurse sharks, sea turtles, and even the occasional whale passing through the area.
