About this site
El Salto lies along the coast of El Hierro, the westernmost and smallest of the Canary Islands, off the coast of Spain in the Atlantic Ocean. The island's shoreline is largely volcanic, with steep drop-offs and rocky terrain typical of the Canarian archipelago, and its dive sites are generally reached by boat from small coastal towns. This wreck site reaches a maximum depth of around 33 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Divers have reported barracuda, moray eels, octopus, and snapper around the site.
