Floreana

Floreana is one of the older inhabited islands in the Galápagos archipelago, lying in the southern part of the island group off Ecuador's Pacific coast, with its surrounding waters part of the Galápagos Marine Reserve. The island carries a long human history, from early pirate and whaler visits to a small settlement tied to a colonial-era post office barrel used by passing sailors. This particular reef site reaches a maximum depth of around 18 metres, is rated a beginner dive, and sees no current, making it an easier entry point into the marine reserve's waters. Batfish and eagle rays are regular sightings here, and divers have also reported hammerhead sharks passing through.
