About this site
Champion is a small islet dive site off the coast of Floreana Island in the Galapagos archipelago, reached by a short boat trip from the main island. It is known for encounters with sea lions and for its population of the endemic Floreana damselfish, alongside reef fish and larger pelagics that pass through the surrounding waters, including eagle rays and hammerhead sharks. Divers have also reported barracuda, batfish, garden eels, and seahorses here. The site tops out around 18 metres and is rated an intermediate dive, with the cooler water and noticeable surge or current typical of the southern Galapagos islands factoring into how it is approached.
