About this site
Devil's Crown is the eroded rim of a submerged volcanic cone off the north shore of Floreana Island in the Galapagos archipelago, its jagged rocks breaking the surface in a rough circle. It is one of the better known dive sites in the islands, known for strong currents and surge that funnel through gaps in the crown, making it a site generally reserved for more experienced divers. Divers commonly encounter reef fish in large numbers, sea lions, rays, and hammerhead sharks passing through the deeper water outside the ring. Depths run from a few metres inside the crown to well past 20 metres on the outer slopes, and conditions can change quickly with tide and surge.
