About this site
Giants Castle lies along the coast off Inhambane province in southern Mozambique, on a stretch of Indian Ocean reef reached by boat from beach towns such as Tofo and Barra. The reef bottom reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated an advanced dive, with strong and unpredictable current and negative entries straight down to the reef. Barracuda, grouper, and manta rays are common here, and divers have also reported eagle rays, parrotfish, scorpionfish, stingrays, trevally, whale sharks, whales, and yellow-blocked nudibranchs on the reef. The mix of depth and fast-moving water keeps this one firmly in advanced territory.
