About this site
Gili Sarang lies off Lombok's coast in Nusa Tenggara Barat province, Indonesia, within the Lombok Strait region separating Bali from the Lesser Sunda Islands, part of a chain of islets that sees boat traffic running between Lombok and neighboring Sumbawa. The reef here tops out around 18 metres and is rated an advanced dive, with strong current and surge reported as hazards. Nudibranchs are a consistent find on the reef, and divers have also reported hammerhead sharks, mackerel, rhinopias, scorpionfish, snapper, surgeonfish, sweetlips, trevally, and tuna passing through or settled on the site.
