Gili Selang

Gili Selang sits off the easternmost point of Bali, near Amed and Seraya on the island's northeast coast, where the Bali Sea meets the Lombok Strait. The site is a wall dive to around 15 metres, rated advanced due to strong and often unpredictable currents that can shift or swirl through the point, along with swell from that open-water exposure. Visibility here is typically great, and the terrain includes rocky reef and swim-throughs alongside the wall itself. Its position at the meeting of currents draws pelagics past the point, with barracuda, batfish, bumphead parrotfish, hammerhead sharks, and thresher sharks confirmed here, while divers have also reported bannerfish, eagle rays, Napoleon wrasse, nudibranchs, trevally, and tuna. Local boat operators typically time trips carefully around the currents, since conditions can change quickly, and some divers have also noted thermoclines and up-and-down currents along the steep drop-off.
