About this site
Gongenzaki (権現崎) is a shore dive at the northern end of Shirarahama beach in Shirahama on the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama, with a maximum depth of 8 m and an average around 4 m. Clean white sand and stands of branching coral are the main features. The sand holds stingrays, lizardfish, flathead, scorpionfish, gobies and sand anemones, the rocky patches have anemonefish and frogfish, and from summer into early winter tropical butterflyfish and angelfish gather around the branching coral. No current, suitable from beginner/novice level.
