About this site
Gota Abu Ramada is a reef site off Hurghada in the Red Sea Governorate of Egypt, near Abu Ramada Island south of the city, within the sheltered waters used heavily by Hurghada's day boat diving and snorkeling fleet close to other reef patches along this stretch of coast. The reef reaches a maximum depth of around 50 metres but is rated a beginner dive, with strong currents noted as part of the site's conditions. Bannerfish, barracuda, grouper, lionfish, octopus, stonefish, and sweetlips are all found on the reef, and divers have also reported angelfish, butterflyfish, eagle rays, hammerhead sharks, moray eels, scorpionfish, snapper, stingrays, trevally, triggerfish, and tuna here. The mix of species and the current make it a lively spot despite the easy grading.
