About this site
The Grotta Azzurra, or Blue Grotto, sits on the northern coast of Capri island in the Bay of Naples. It is best known as a sea cave famous for the striking blue light that fills its interior, caused by sunlight refracting through an underwater opening and a small entrance passage above the waterline. Access is tightly controlled by local boatmen who row small skiffs through the low entrance, and diving or swimming inside is generally restricted rather than treated as an open dive site.
