About this site
The Abrolhos Islands sit off the southern coast of Bahia, Brazil, forming the country's first marine national park and one of the largest reef complexes in the South Atlantic. The archipelago is built around volcanic islands and surrounding coral formations, including the distinctive mushroom-shaped chapeirão reef structures typical of the region. Sites in this area are generally reached by boat from the coastal towns near Caravelas.
