About this site
Sawara Ne (サワラ根) is a pinnacle site 25 minutes by boat from Hahajima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, fully exposed to the open ocean, with a maximum depth of 40 m. That exposure brings many pelagics, among them giant, bluefin and bigeye trevally, barracuda, Spanish mackerel, sand tiger sharks and dogtooth tuna, with fusiliers, boarfish and snapper on the rock; the spot is also well known for rock fishing. The current is fast and the site is for advanced divers only.
