About this site
Mankichiba (万吉場) is a reef site 15 minutes by boat from Hahajima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, with a maximum depth of 28 m. Beds of Pavona coral spread across the seabed and draw large numbers of reef fish such as yellowfin goatfish, striped large-eye bream, bluestripe snapper and fusiliers, while big green turtles rest all around. In winter it is also a quiet spot for whale diving; when the current runs it is fast, and the site suits intermediate divers and above.
